Who needs superheroes when you have brothers and sisters? | Menlo Park, California
Being a family photographer, I have seen a lot of siblings in front of my lens. It’s always the smiles – the real, authentic capture of a genuine smile – that get me. The smiles are often accompanied by great laughter and much play. It was Maria Montessori who said, “Play is the work of the child.”
Watching brothers and sisters play with one another, embrace for a hug, and then burst out laughing as if they’ve got a secret that no one else knows is a little bit magical. Capturing those emotions with my camera and then sharing them with the family where mom recognizes the twinkle in her daughter’s eye and dad sees the tilt of the head and a familiar expression, reminds me how connected we are by this one image in this one moment.
