Veteran’s Day is always a bittersweet day for me.  I am grateful for our veterans who have served, and I am thankful for the opportunity I had to serve in the US Army.  I also recognize the sacrifices that families of veterans have made over the years. You who have waited for your soldiers to come home from a duty station.  Orders that sometimes change so the date of arrival is different than what you originally expected.  Phone calls to update you from sites of conflict, layovers, and waiting stations.  (Did you know there is a Military Spouse Appreciation Day set aside on the Friday before Mother’s Day? There’s a real reason for that.)

Veterans, I am grateful for your service.

Military families, your dedication, patience, perseverance, and support of your soldier, I see that, and I am grateful.
