Five Photos: August | Families, Friends, and more Chickens
August was all about spending time with family for me, and I couldn’t have been happier. Years ago, we attended a friend’s wedding, and at the reception the mother of the bride had said there was one golden rule in their house:
Treat your family like your friends
and
Your friends like your family
I think of this phrase often when I am with the friends who are like family to me, and when I spend time with my family who are like my good friends. This was my August.
I spent time with these lovely ladies:
I [heart] Wheelock! What started out as peeps I met at school turned into dear friends and 15 years later…here we still are…getting together whenever and wherever we can.
#BabyTour2015 continued with more visits to the babies in my family, not to mention a few extra playdates with one particular little man.
My mom came to the woods where we did all our favorite things: made some meatballs, baked some cakes, cooked some chicken soup. And there was the day we were twinning (not planned!)
Oh, and then…we got more chickens – nine baby chicks to be precise. I think I prefer to raise chickens from the chick stage. I can say this now after four rounds of chickens in various stages of growth.
My favorite photo was this one captured when we were at the Cape this summer. When you’re used to go-go-go all the time, it can be strange to find yourself sitting on a beach, wondering if you should be doing something else. Eventually, the sand under your feet, the lapping of waves against the shore, and the dips in the ocean on a hot day convince you that you are exactly where you should be.
Happy Labor Day!
LET’S KEEP IN TOUCH!
