Five Photos: October

On this first day of November, I am dying to know – have you been enjoying your fall? This is my favorite season, so I am loving the leaves on the ground, the pumpkins at the market, and the crisp air in the morning.

Speaking of crisp air in the morning, this is the time of year to winterize the bees and their hives. My huckleberry has been hard at work here to ensure they stay with us through the winter months. We are keeping our fingers crossed – if they stay through the winter, this could mean honey next spring. Look at what they’ve already made in the photo below.

The middle of October found us in Kingston, Jamaica to photograph Alessandro’s Peter Rabbit-themed 1st birthday party at the Hope Gardens and Zoo. WOW – just wow! The family and friends of this one-year-old were an amazing group who came out to celebrate this wee man. Not even the threat of rain could stop this group and the revelry that followed.

Speaking of parties, October is a busy time of year when people order albums of their events for holiday gift giving. I love re-living the events of each party that I photographed! I see the photograph in my hands, and I can hear the laughter of friends coming together.

To hold a photo album, to flip through the pages, to view the photographs, to re-live an event ... reminds us that the details of our lives matter.

To check out the whole album, this link here is live until 8am on November 15th.  Go, take a peek!

My photography philosophy is based on the belief that we need to put these memories together in a way that allows them to be shared for years to come. Whether you frame them to hang on a wall, assemble an album to be shared with others, or tuck them into a tabletop frame to sit on your desk, we take photographs to remember one moment in time. Give your photographs life by printing them out and sharing them with others!

Speaking of printing out photos, I think this one is going into a frame and onto my desk.

The lovely Whitby has come to join our family. He is a 4 month old lab, with a bit of spaniel mixed in. [We’ve gotten a lot of questions about the name Whitby, so if you’re curious – stay tuned – I promise to share that story in a forthcoming blog post.] Here, we were cleaning up our garden beds and getting them ready for winter. Whitby also wanted to help by digging holes, kicking dirt up and out of the bed, and generally prancing about as Dan tried to turn the dirt over. Helpful dog, wouldn’t you say?

Finally, I am going to share this photo:

Yup, that’s us – tearing it up on a Friday night with Calvados, a book, and some Legos.

Here’s to another month of photographing the details of our lives!  Thank you for inviting me to capture the details of your life that matter.

LET’S KEEP IN TOUCH!
